The Rules of the Board
Our rules are pretty basic, and have been in effect here since day one. If you need more explanation, please ask a staff member before you just go ahead and do as you please!
- No profanity in any public channels of any game
Do not use profanity in the public channels of any module of this BBS - Chat, Tradewars, or MajorMUD. Erotica is restricted to adults, and does not have this rule. An occasional expletive in context is permissible, but keep it very occasional.- Do not harass any other player in any way
Never harass, aggravate, nor be disruptive to other on-line users. This includes name-calling, telepaths, comments in open channels, and email. This especially includes unsolicited sexual advances. Such complaints will be dealt with severely and immediately.- Respect others and their rights to play
Respect other players. This means do not raid deathpiles or ganghouses. If you enter someone's scripting area, please ask before setting up your scripts. In general, treat them the way you expect to be treated. If you are asked to move on, please do so. If you need ideas for scripting, please ask. There are many areas that are little known that will yield nice experience at different levels. If your play depends on having that one certain item or one scripting spot, you may be better off on a different board.- Ganghouses are not warehouses for everything you find!
If you cannot use an item you find or get from a chest/monster etc. PLEASE - recycle it or leave it in the Halls of the Dead for others. Rocks from the chests have no purpose - please sell or dispose of them! At the very least leave them for the newer players to find and sell.- Limited items are to be in play as much as possible
When you have outgrown your questor (usually by level 25), flush it or at least leave it for others to enjoy. The same goes for limiteds you may find but cannot use. DO NOT put them in your ganghouse unless you or a member of your gang can use them within a reasonable (1 week) time. Let someone else use it. If we all follow these suggestions on limiteds, there are plenty to go around.- Staff Members are not here to play any game for you
The Staff will do all within their powers to make your time on this BBS pleasant. This does not mean you are free to demand power leveling or quest completions or them or anyone else for that matter. Staff members are volunteers and most are working adults with families. They will help if time permits, and most do offer to help on their own.At this time, the BBS is not looking for any additional staff members. Asking will not help your cause at all. Showing your interest by helping other players and being an active participant will.
- NO Advertising for ANY online service.
This includes logons/logoffs, game names, and announcements. Please check with a staff if unsure. Never advertise for other online services. This includes websites that you will profit from (affiliate program links), other boards, or adult sites. If you are in doubt, please ask a staff member first. Odds are, they will not only okay your link but will send it on to be linked to Mudville or one of our other related sites.- Do NOT argue with the staff
Staff members are direct representatives of the Sysop/Owner and should be respected as such. Pagan (Mustikki) is the current owner and Sysop. The actual Sysop account has a game name of Sysopicus, and is a non-playing account.Any disciplinary actions are agreed upon by a majority of available staff members, and are rarely the desire of just one. This staff is not a group of kids, but is a solid core of mature, working adults with a solid knowledge of either the game or BBS software. Appeals can always be presented, but, we will not listen to whiners.
- If you have been granted sys keys, it is expected that you will respect this privilege. Currently, the only sys powers that are ever given out are Sys Map and Sys Goto. Use of any other sys commands, or any kind of attempt to hack, alter, view, or otherwise access the database or any files on the server will be grounds for immediate suspension of your account(s).
There are many boards out there. If you cannot fit into our community, please move on. Our MajorMUD realm is fairly large and has never been reset. We do get along and share limiteds with everyone. While we all have bad days, that is no excuse to be abusive to any other player in any way. We do not pretend to be for everyone! As the owner always says, when you care to make the kind of financial investment for the makings of a BBS (an easy $5,000), then you can start your own board and make your own rules. Until then, learn to get along with others!
These rules are strictly enforced, and anyone that breaks them may find their accounts suspended for the day, or be asked to leave. There are no refunds of any kind made under any circumstances. When your payment is accepted, it is your word that you will respect our simple rules. If you choose break these rules and force a staff member to suspend you or ask you to leave, you forfeit any and all rights. Parents are responsible for the behavior of their children, just as account holders are responsible for the actions of their scripts.
